I support this cause, and also do charity bits and bobs for Help For Heroes. I send goody boxes to a few servicemen currently in Afghanistan too.

Every little bit helps - especially at the moment when the Afghan winter has kicked in and the troops' winter kit has not all arrived!!

Nothing new there Rusty - I think I told you that Jame's mate came home on leave and spent alot of it and money buying his own kit to take back because it was inadequate, put alot of lads off joining up including James who was all set for the Marines.

Pure stupidity on the parts of those that should be sorting it out for the lads and lasses who are out there fighting.

Our boxes with thermal gloves and stuff in got there before the chit had been issued for their winter kit!! I buy what I can even though I'm not working at the moment. The general public don't hear of the cock ups as a rule. They see the programmes on tv and see them at the likes of Camp Bastion with the bar and pizza places etc and think they are having a long holiday. They don't hear their friends and loved ones on the phone crying because they have had to pick up their best mate - in 6 pieces!!

Don't get me started :banghead:

My cousin used to write to me when he served. I had a pen pal too (a mate of his who grew up in a children's home so no one wrote to him) and send them little parcels. My dd and I used to send random ones to 'any soldier' if they wrote back and thanked me then a few months later I would send that soldier one again too.
